Review of The Silent Songbird by Melanie Dickerson

When I first picked up this novel, I felt a little skeptical at first. The author’s style of writing was much different than what I was used to from other authors, but it quickly grew on me, especially as I learned more about the characters and fell in love with the storyline.

After all, who doesn’t love a story about a rebellious princess who runs away with her servant and pretends to be mute just to avoid the duke finding her?

I especially loved seeing the interactions between Evangeline and Wesley. Even though he has no idea who she is, Wesley has a sweet heart and not only looks after her as if she were a woman of status (oh wait…), but he befriends her even though she is “mute”.

This book is definitely a must read! I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to people looking for a great read. If only I could hear Evangeline’s voice in person! Then I would understand why everyone is falling head over heels just to hear her sing.
